Pastel Artist Ivers To Offer Program At Meeting House

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Christine Ivers of Meriden demonstrating in pastel on Wednesday, January 14, at 7:30 pm. Her subject will be a landscape.

This meeting is open to the public, free of charge, and will be held in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

Ms Ivers was recently elected to the board of directors of the International Association of Pastel Societies and will be traveling to Albuquerque, N.M., this year for the IAPS Biennial Convention.

She has been teaching workshops around the country. This year she will also be traveling to Ireland and Italy, where she will lead oil and pastel painting workshops entitled “Plein Air Painting for the Studio Artist.”

In the last few years Ms Ivers has had her work exhibited in Vose Galleries in Boston, and has been juried into numerous national exhibits. She  was also honored with the commission of the portrait of Honorable Chief Court Justice Donald Pogue, who is retiring from the bench of The International Trade Commission.
