Deanna McKeever, 85, of Newtown, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2024 in her home.

Deanna was born on June 2, 1938, in Bangor, Me., and spent her early years in Fairfield. Later she moved to Newtown, where she was a permanent resident for more than 50 years, many of which were with her beloved husband, Jack.

Resilient and reliable, Deanna was dedicated to her career at Fairfield Hills, where she worked as a medical secretary for 52 years. She also belonged to Newbury Congregational Church in Brookfield, where her caring and giving nature shone.

Deanna was often described as a strong woman, persistent and determined in pursuing the things that were most important to her, whether that be family, friends, work, or community.

Deanna was predeceased by her loving husband John (Jack) F. McKeever of Ridgefield.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina Hovey of Waterbury, and her two sons, William Sherwood Jr. of Monroe and Wayne Sherwood of Southbury. Deanna was grandmother to five grandchildren, and to nine great grandchildren. She also leaves two siblings, Stephanie Monsanto of Oxford and Jack Thornton of Priest River, Idaho. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 2-3:30 pm on Monday, January 15, at Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South in Southbury.
