Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, William Beatty, 19, of 57 Laurel Trail went to the police station on January 2 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction and with a parking violation. Beatty had received a parking ticket, but did not respond to that violation, according to police.

After he posted $37 bail, police released Beatty for a January 15 court appearance.

Berkshire Crash

Police said motorist Ryan Dilworth, 17, of 57 Charter Ridge Road was driving a 2003 Land Rover SUV eastward on Berkshire Road, near Wasserman Way, about 3:40 pm January 2, when he became distracted and then drove into the rear end of a eastbound 1997 Acura Integra coupe that was stopped for traffic conditions. Motorist Shamika Cancel, 24, of Bridgeport was driving the Acura, police said.

Ambulance volunteers transported Cancel to Danbury Hospital to be checked for neck and back pain, police said. Sandy Hook firefighters went to the accident.

Police issued Dilworth an infraction for following too closely, distracted driving, and failure to carry a driver’s license.
