Karime S. Hadad

Karime (Showah) Hadad, 92, of 119 Housatonic Avenue, New Milford, formerly of Danbury, died on January 11 at the New Milford Nursing Home. She was the widow of the late Michael A. Hadad.

She was the mother of George Hadad and his wife, Patricia, of Newtown.

Mrs Hadad was born in Soudie, Syria, August 28, 1908, a daughter of the late George and Katherine (Showah) Showah.

She immigrated to this country in 1928 from Syria and had been a resident ever since.

Mrs Hadad was a founding member of St George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Danbury as well as a member of its Ladies Society.

She is also survived by a daughter, Marion Horton, and her husband, Robert, of New Milford, with whom she made her home; four other sons, Albert Hadad of Danbury, Nicholas Hadad and his wife, Vera, of Woodbury, John Hadad and his wife, Joanne, of New Fairfield, and Louis Hadad and his wife, Loralee, of Brookfield; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Rite of Burial took place on January 16 in St George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 125 Kohanza Street, Danbury, with the Rev Joseph Longofono officiating.

Interment followed in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.
