THE ALDRICH MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART will celebrate the opening of its major winter exhibitions this weekend with a public reception on Sunday, January 21. âThe Girl Made of Butterâ will present new work by Janine Antoni, the winner of the 1999 Larry Aldrich Foundation Award. The multi-media pieces being featured present work that was conceptualized by Ms Antoni during her residency at WanÃ¥s Foundation in Sweden. The collection is being presented for the first time ever at the Aldrich. The second show, âPaper,â will present works by 12 artists who use paper not only as a support for paint or pencil but as a sculptural medium in its own right. Seen here, for example, is Saul Chernickâs 1999 piece âUntitled,â created of cut paper on a painted wall. The Aldrich is at 258 Main Street in Ridgefield and the reception will run from 4 to 6 pm Sunday afternoon. Both exhibits will remain on view through May 20.
