Middle Gate Receives Mobil Grant

Local business owner Gary Buzzanca, owner of Buzz’s Mobil in Botsford, has provided Middle Gate School with $1,000 for the third year in a row.

Mr Buzzanca has been applying for a $500 Mobil Oil Educational Alliance Grant for the past three years, which he matches with an additional $500.

“It’s a Mobil program that they offer. They’ve had it for three years,” Mr Buzzanca said. “Every time I’ve applied, they’ve granted it.”

Last year the school purchased digital cameras that have been a big hit, according to Middle Gate Media Specialist Donna McGough. Both teachers and students have found the cameras useful.

This year, the school plans to purchase a CD rewrite burner that will allow to school to create CDs for incoming kindergartners and new students. The CDs will provide information about the school including the staff, special education information, and what to expect during the day, according to Mrs McGough.

“It’s so nice of you to do this,” Mrs McGough said. 

Mr Buzzanca and his wife, Jill, have two children, Garrison and Anna. Garrison will start kindergarten next year at Middle Gate School.

“It’s a nice community thing to do,” Mr Buzzanca said.
