Occupation: I’ve been the meal site manager and activities coordinator at Nunnawauk Meadows for six years. My job is to make sure the elderly and the disabled are fed and have recreation. This year, we’ll be doing an all-day Super Bowl party, a Memorial Day picnic, and our Fourth of July Parade. Since I moved to Nunnawauk Meadows, I’ve enjoyed being involved with the community and was president of the Residents’ Association Board. I’m actually president-elect for it again now. My mission is always to make sure everyone feels comfortable when they come here, have a hot meal, and have fun at the same time.

Family: I have a daughter and grandchildren in Danbury.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I grew up in Newtown and went through the school system. I’ve lived here for pretty much my entire life and have been at Nunnawauk Meadows for 11 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I don’t have a lot of free time, but when I do, I enjoy spending it with my family. I like to cook and visit residents that are in nursing homes to make sure everyone is okay.

What is your favorite travel destination? I’ve traveled a lot, including to Hawaii, but my favorite travel destination would be London, England. I would love to go back there again.

What is the best part about Newtown? The Labor Day Parade because it brings the whole community together. When I was a little boy, we did neighborhood floats for the parade. The neighbors would get together to work on the float or decorate their bikes. It was such a fun time. When I was president for the Residents’ Association the first time, we built a float for the parade and had a blast with it.

How can Newtown improve? By having block parties to bring the community back together. When I was a kid, we did one by the A&P and Cumberland Farms Plaza, now the Big Y/CVS plaza, that was great.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? I have to give my mother credit. My mom taught me so much, whether it was right or wrong, I learned from that. I look back on it now that I’m older, and I know that’s what created my morals.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? I like the people that I spend time with and would never change that. I just wish there were more people I could spend time with at Nunnawauk Meadows. I would love to spend more time with more of my neighbors and residents.

Who is your favorite musical artist? I’m a John Lennon fan.

Do you have a favorite TV show? I like watching Jeopardy and news channels.

What is your favorite food? I like to make — and eat — cream puffs.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? To be friendly and polite to everyone, because you never know what someone is going through.

What is something you cannot live without? The residents and my neighbors at Nunnawauk Meadows.

What is your proudest accomplishment? That I continue to survive health complications.
