Lois Zimmermann
Lois Zimmermann, artist and writer, of Rancho Bernardo, Calif., died January 15. She is survived by three children, Roberta Jones and Andrea Zimmermann, both of Newtown, and Bill Zimmermann of San Diego, and a grandson, Dylan Jones of Newtown. She was the wife of the late Frederick Roller Zimmermann.
Mrs Zimmermann was born in Detroit in 1926. She graduated from the Liggett School, attended Denison University, and graduated cum laude from Wayne State University. After graduating, she taught French and Spanish at the Liggett School.
Mrs Zimmermann, a professional artist for the past 46 years, began her art studies after she had married and moved to Greenwich. Her work has been exhibited in the Stamford Gallery and in the Sculpture Gallery of Westport. Portraiture was her specialty, and she won many awards for her watercolors and pastels. She was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Art Club, the Poway Art League, and the San Diego Portrait Society.
She published 11 childrenâs stories and had completed a novel just before she became ill. An avid reader and computer enthusiast, Mrs Zimmermann also collected dolls.
She was a devoted supporter of the San Diego Zoological Society. Donations in memory of Lois Zimmermann may be sent to the society at PO Box 271, San Diego, CA 92112.
