Ben Eberts, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:17.85 to help lead the Lebanon Valley College (Annville, Pennsylvania) men’s swim team to a 90-54 win over Fairleigh-Dickinson University-Madison.

Becky Osborne, a 1998 graduate of Newtown High School, is preparing for another outdoor track & field season with the Ohio Wesleyan women’s team. Osborne was an All-NCAC performer in the shot put as a freshman and hopes to help lead the Lady Bishops to the North Coast Athletic Conference championship.

Amanda Torske, of Sandy Hook, is a sophomore member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute women’s swim team. Recently, she placed second in the 1,000-meter freestyle and took the runner-up spot in the 100-meter butterlfy at the Rensselaer Invitational. She also was a member of the 200-meter relay team that took second.

Shana Eigen, a 1999 graduate of Newtown High School, is the sixth man for the Johnson & Wales women’s basketball team. She is averaging five points and three rebounds a game. She had her best game against defending league champion, Emanuel, by scoring nine points and pulling down seven rebounds. J&W is 8-6 overall, 2-1 in league play (as of this writing). J&W will travel to West Hartford to battle St. Joseph’s on Saturday, February 12, in a 1 pm tipoff. J&W will also visit Connecticut on Tuesday, February 15, for a 5:30 pm game against Albertus Magnus.
