BOYS 8TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 57, WATERTOWN 36: Ronnie Shimko scored 14 points and Devon Manfredonia added 10 as Newtown overwhelmed Watertown. Troy Simek chipped in with nine points as Dave Anderson and Ben Oliver grabbed 10 rebounds apiece. Anderson, Ben Bagaglio and Matt McFadden combined for nine steals.

NEWTOWN 55, WILTON 48: Troy Simek poured in 13 points and made five steals to lead Newtown to the victory. Ronnie Shimko added nine points as Dave Anderson, Devon Manfredonia and Matt McFadden combined for 21 points. John Oliver had a game-high eight rebounds.

 

GIRLS 7TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 29, DANBURY 26: Nine players scored as Newtown edged Danbury. Megan LaFlamme and Meghan Kelley led the way with six points apiece. Jackie Ercole and Ami Walston had key baskets while Jessica Budnick was solid on defense and pulled down five rebounds.

STAMFORD 39, NEWTOWN 37:  Ashley Larocque scored 12 points and Courtney Brunton added 10 as Newtown fell in a nail-biter. Christie Caruso played a solid floor game while Emily Nezvesky and Katie O’Connor were strong off the boards.

NEWTOWN 52, SOUTHINGTON 23: Ashley Larocque scored 12 points to lead Newtown to a romp over Southington. Megan LaFlamme chipped in with nine points while Siobhan Cooper added eight. Other standouts include Jessica Budnick (six points), Meghan Kelley (seven points), and Courtney Brunton (six points). Jackie Ercole played well on the boards.

BOYS 6TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 41, NEW CANAAN 37: Drew Harmata, Stephen Neylon and Josh Tennenbaum combined for 21 points to lead Newtown past New Canaan. Neylon and Alex Caruso spurred a fourth-quarter comeback with a solid defensive effort. Tommy Wilson and Harmata iced the win with some clutch free throw shooting at the end.

NEWTOWN 59, BROOKFIELD 27: Marc Ingerman and Brian Shimko scored 12 points apiece to lead Newtown over Brookfield. Ingerman added 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season while Shimko canned a pair of three-point shots. Drew Harmata had nine points and 10 rebounds as Drew Adamek chipped in with eight points. Chris Giorno and Jack Capito led a tough defensive effort for Newtown, now 11-4 on the season.

BOYS 5TH GRADE

 

NEWTOWN 66, HOLY FAMILY OF FAIRFIELD 65: Michael Kennedy scored 14 points – including the game winning basket – to lead Newtown to an exciting, come-from-behind win. Ryan McGrath (16 points) and Joey DeVellis (12 points) also led the offense. Michael Klein chipped in with six points while Kennedy and McGrath controlled the boards.

NEWTOWN 50, WESTPORT 43: It was outstanding, fourth-quarter foul shooting which propelled Newtown past Westport. Newtown began the fourth down by two, but took the lead behind 8-for-12 shooting from the line (Jack Quinn hit 2-of-2 on a technical, Joey Bowen was 2-for-2, Michael Tibbetts wasd 1-for-2, and Joey DeVellis was 3-for-6). Ryan McGrath poured in 22 points to lead the way while DeVellis chipped in with nine. Tad Pierson added four points while Tibbetts, Bowen and McGrath worked the boards for Newtown, now 14-3.
