Nursing School Open House
Nursing School Open House
FAIRFIELD â The Fairfield University School of Nursing will conduct an open house on Monday, February 12, from 4 to 7 pm. Nursing faculty will be on hand to explain the schoolâs various bachelor and masterâs degree programs.
Fairfield University has been approved to offer three advanced practice nursing options: adult nurse practitioner, the family nurse practitioner, and the psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Two new tracks are also being developed and have been submitted to the Department of Higher Education for approval. These are specialties in management and health care law. In addition, post masterâs certificate programs are available for the practitioner options.
With the nursing shortage a national concern, Fairfield offers several routes to entering the graduate programs. Registered nurses without a bachelorâs degree may pursue a degree in nursing or professional studies and then matriculate into the masterâs program. Registered nurses with a bachelorâs degree in another field may enroll in a bridge course and complete prerequisites of health assessment and community health and then enter the masterâs program. The Accelerated/BSN program is also available for those seeking a bachelorâs degree in nursing.
Men and women who have graduated with a bachelorâs degree in a non-nursing field may enter the Graduate Entry into Nursing Practice program, leading to licensure as a registered nurse in just five semesters. The masterâs degree may then be completed in another four semesters. Since summer semesters are included, the program is completed in three years.
