Keene State College, in Keene, N.H., named two Sandy Hook residents to the fall 2007 Dean’s List. Amanda Marie Black and Shanna Marie Hufnagel both had a GPA of 3.5 or higher last semester.

Sandy Hook resident Maricate Colon was named to the fall 2007 Dean’s List at Lafayette College in Easton, Penn., where she is a freshman.

The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta named Newtown resident Kaitlyn Murphy to the fall 2007 semester Dean’s List.

Kent School, an independent boarding school in Kent, named sixth form student Patrick Ortali to the winter term Honor Roll. Patrick is the son of Peter Ortali and Mary O’Dea of Sandy Hook.

Newtown High School graduate Jenna Van Waalwijk was named to the fall 2007 Dean’s List at Muhlenberg College, in Allentown, Penn. Ms Waalwijk is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard C Waaljwijk.

Wendy Borst, the daughter of Sandy Hook residents Jim and Laurie Borst, was named to the fall 2007 Dean’s List at Temple University, in Philadelphia. Ms Borst graduated from Newtown High School in 2005; she is enrolled in Temple University’s School of Communication and Theater and is currently studying at Temple’s campus in Rome, Italy.

Newtown resident David Bunger and Sandy Hook resident Michael Mangearella were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2007 semester at Tufts University in Medford/Somerville, Mass.

The following Newtown residents were named to the fall 2007 Dean’s List at either the University Connecticut in Storrs, or at one of UConn’s five branch campuses: Mary Anders, Mercedes Ball, Timothy Carlisle, Lindsey Chimileski, Kelly Coorigan, Rebecca Corrigan, Matthew Courchene-Roy, David Creaturo, Justin Durelli, Christina Ercole, Jacqueline Ercole, Emily Fields, Neil Goyal, Leah Herity, Julie Iwanicki, David King, Christina Matsis, Michael Mitchell, Valerie Nezvesky, Bethany Ober, Krishna Patel, Andrea Raynor, Najamuddin Syed, Chantal Thompson, Jennifer Truchsess, Tyler Von Oy, Alana Wenick, David Wesley, and Louisa Yemc.

Also, Erica Carino, Liam Cawley, Kaitlyn Fenton, You Gao, Kevin Gilroy, Garrett Hahn, Jennifer Kalbacher, Benjamin March, Kathleen Mayer, Elaine McCafferty, James McCafferty, Shayna Mesko, Robert Milot, Christopher Nuelle, Lisa Sapienza, and Sarah Whalley, all from Sandy Hook, were also named to the fall 2007 UConn Dean’s List.

On December 16, three Newtown residents graduated from the University of Connecticut schools across the state. Amanda L. Ceci received a bachelor’s of general studies degree, with an individualized major; Kristen Conciadli, a marketing major, received a bachelor’s of science degree, as did Robert Liu, who majored in management. Sandy Hook resident John Dietter received a bachelor’s of arts degree. Mr Dietter majored in history.
