Domain Customers:

Watch Deliveries

Newtown consumers who may have money on deposit with the Brookfield Domain home furnishings store that filed for bankruptcy January 25 are advised to pay attention to promised delivery dates. Consumers who may have transactions pending from the local store, or any of its other state locations, should ensure that they will be getting everything they ordered from the company, Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr, announced this week.

The other Connecticut stores are located in West Hartford, Milford, and Stamford.

“We have been in contact with the company and are monitoring the situation,” Commissioner Farrell said. “However, in order that consumers protect their investment, any Domain customers who have items on order should confirm the delivery dates on their orders, and follow through immediately if the item does not arrive on time or as ordered.

“If there is a problem with the delivery, the customer should contact the store as soon as possible to resolve the issue.”

Mr Farrell said if the store does not immediately resolve the problem, the customer should promptly file a written complaint with the Department of Consumer Protection, and at that time, should also file a claim in the Domain bankruptcy case.

Domain’s Distribution Center toll-free phone number is 877-436-6246. In addition, Epiq Systems has been designated as the Claim Agent for processing Domain claims. The Epiq website is www.bsillc.com.

Domain’s case is with the United States Bankruptcy Court of Delaware, case number 08-1-0132. The court’s online claim forms are available at www.deb.uscourts.gov. Proof of claim forms must be filed on paper and mailed to the court.

Consumers with questions may contact the Department of Consumer Protection at 800-842-2649. The department’s complaint form can be viewed and printed from www.ct.gov/dcp.
