Elizabeth Hess

Devoted Wife And Mother

Elizabeth Hess, 72, of New Milford, devoted wife of Richard F. Hess, died January 27 after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born in Astoria, N.Y., on April 7, 1935. She moved to Brookfield with her husband in 1967 before settling the last few years in New Milford. 

 In addition to her beloved husband of 50 years, Mrs Hess is survived by nine children and their spouses and 12 grandchildren, Jim and Linda Hess and their children, Matt and Alex, and Patty and Tom Kelleher and their children, Megan, Alison, and Shannon, all of Newtown; Carole Hess and her children, Teri and Gregg, of New Milford; Richard and Bernadette Hess and their children, Richard, Alana, and Patrick, of Brookfield; Mary Hess of Bethel; Janette and Shawn McKeown of Colorado; Barbara Hess of Bethel; Steve and Julie Hess and their children, Amanda and Kaitlyn, of Pennsylvania; and Ken Hess of Colorado. Her loving daughter, Theresa Hess, preceded her in death. 

Mrs Hess dedicated her life to being a devoted wife and caring mom. She taught unconditional love and was an inspiration to her loving family. She also enjoyed the company of her friends, especially while playing bridge and gathering with the Red Hat Society. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. 

Funeral services were held January 31 at Our Lady of the Lakes in New Milford. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery in Newtown. The Brookfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
