Jessie Steel Gustafson

Beloved Wife And Mother

Jessie Steel Gustafson, 86, of Stratford, died at Lord Chamberlain Health Center January 21. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Alexander and Isabel Steel.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Arthur C. Gustafson; a son, Richard Gustafson and his wife, Penny, of Newtown; a daughter, Janet Linton and her husband, Michael of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a brother, Dr Robert Steel and his wife, Phyllis, of California; a sister, Mary Kogut of Stratford; six grandchildren, Melissa Fossett, Andrea and Daniel Gustafson, and Kristen, Elizabeth, and Karen Linton; and one great-grandson, Blaine.

Mrs Gustafson was retired from the Stratford School System and had been a secretary for the principle of Johnson Junior High. She was a member of the Black Rock Congregational Church for more than 40 years and was a member of the Stratford Garden Club. She enjoyed crocheting and tapestry work.

Friends are invited to attend memorial services on Friday, February 8, at 11 am, in the Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, with the Rev James Marshall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Black Rock Congregational Church, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Connecticut Chapter, 10 Wall Street, Norwalk CT 06850.

Arrangements are in care of the Dennis & D’Arcy Funeral Home, Stratford.
