Newtown Health District has announced a COVID-19 vaccination clinic offering the Moderna vaccine on Wednesday, February 2.

First dose, second dose, and booster shots will be available. Patients must be at least age 18.

Those receiving second dose or booster shots must bring proof of previous vaccination with them, ideally their vaccination card.

Admission is by appointment only. As of 11 am February 1, limited appointments were available between 4:35 pm and 6:10 pm.

The clinic will be at Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.

The Health District reminds readers of the following points to keep in mind when scheduling an appointment:

*Second doses of Moderna vaccine need to be at least 28 days after the first;

*Booster doses must be at least 6 months after the second dose for Moderna, 5 months after a second dose of Pfizer, or 2 months after a first dose of Johnson & Johnson;

*Those receiving their first dose may need to find an alternate location for the second dose; and

*Everyone receiving the vaccine on Wednesday will need to wait for 15 minutes (or 30 depending on health history) after receiving the dose for observation.

All vaccinations are free of charge. Appointments are available through the Town of Newtown website.
