Attorney Activist To Speak At Fairfield U

FAIRFIELD â Anita Hill, the attorney and educator who came to prominence during Justice Clarence Thomasâs Supreme Court confirmation hearings, will speak on Thursday, February 23, at 8 pm, as part of Open Visions Forum, a program of University College at Fairfield University.

The talk, entitled âSpeaking Truth to Power,â will take place at the Universityâs Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

During Senate hearings televised live in 1991, Ms Hill became a household name when she made graphic allegations of sexual harassment against Mr Thomas, who was nevertheless confirmed.

I, too, love that flagpole. I approach it in the southbound lane, as Mr Gardner described, and it’s an inspiring way to start my day. In addition to all it stands for, it tells me something, whether it’s furling in the wind, or hanging quietly when weather is still, sometimes boldly majestic, sometimes sad or unsure. A gem like no other. I know it generates angst with traffic; approached with the appropriate level of caution, it should not be such a problem. Can’t really blame the flagpole, it doesn’t move. I hope it’s there long after I’m gone, and inspires others as well. Thank you Mr Gardner and all the other current, previous, and even future Keepers of the Flagpole.
