Peter Eric Ghent

Adored His Children

Peter Eric Ghent, 40, of Sandy Hook died January 31 as a result of a motorcycle accident on May 1, 2005.

He leaves behind his wife Barbara; his son, Richard Klein; and his two beautiful daughters, Madison and Summer Ghent. Mr Ghent is also survived by his parents, William and Dorothy (Granniss) Ghent of Sandy Hook; a sister, Cheryl Ghent of Sandy Hook; his brother, William “Chip” Ghent and his wife, Angela, of Ansonia; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and hundreds of friends.

Mr Ghent grew up in Newtown and spent his entire life there. He was a wonderful father. He adored his children and loved spoiling all of them. He loved riding his Harley and being on his bike was one of his favorite things to do. He jumped up and down like a little boy the day he bought his bike.

Mr Ghent also loved the Grateful Dead. He and his wife saw many shows over the years and made many great friends going to music festivals. He also loved the New York Giants and no one had better say anything bad about them  — except Peter, of course.

He had so many wonderful friends. Each one touched him deeply. He cared for all of them and was grateful for every single one.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 4, at 10 am, at Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook. Interment will be in Zoar Cemetery. Friends may call at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street in Newtown, on Friday, February 3, from 5 to 8 pm.
