A Little Taxation Perspective

To the Editor:

Let’s put this talk of cutting the sales tax by .36% (.0036) in perspective.

On purchases of $100,000 in taxable goods a CT resident would save $360. Considering the median income in the state is $79,043 it is unlikely most citizens of CT would see even that much savings.

Remember this is on taxable purchases not including non-tax items, such as food and rent.

Very high income individuals would benefit most and lower income well, you do the numbers.
