Darlene and Andy Spencer announce the engagement of their daughter, Karla Marie Spencer of Newtown, to Scott Joseph Sypek of Middletown. The future groom is the son of Renee and Lance Sypek, also of Middletown.

Karla is a 2006 graduate of Newtown High School. She is currently attending Southern Connecticut State University, and is an assistant teacher for The Learning Experience in Cromwell.

Scott is a 2006 graduate of Manchester Regional Academy. He is employed as a salesman for Auto Body Specialties in Middletown.

The couple is hoping for a May 2012 wedding.
