Sexual Assault

Police report that after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Abdullah Mehraban, 66, of Clinton turned himself over to police at the police station on January 26 and was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and with disorderly conduct.

Police said they obtained the court warrant after investigating a December 20 complaint.

After processing, police released Mehraban on $100 bail for a February 8 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Schoolhouse Hill

At about 10:20 am on January 25, motorist William Joyce, 75, of 12 Shepard Hill Road was driving a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck eastward on Schoolhouse Hill Road, as driver Peter Sponheimer, 39, of Torrington was driving a 2003 town-owned Ford F-550 truck westward there, police said.

The roadway’s travel area was reduced due to the presence of snowbanks, police said.

As the two vehicles passed one another, their left, exterior rear-view mirrors collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

South Main Street

At about 3:20 pm on January 25, motorist Anne Hine, 59, of Bethel, who was driving a 2010 Honda Accord sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped in order to enter a driveway at 76 South Main Street, police said.

Northbound motorist Erika Vinci, 23, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2004 Ford Escape SUV, then struck the Honda from behind while attempting to pass the Honda, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Vinci a written warning for unsafe passing.

Church Hill Road

While pulling into a parking lot at 65 Church Hill Road at about 12:30 pm on January 27, a state-owned 2008 International Workstar snowplow truck driven by Michael Dumond, Jr, 42, of Harwinton struck a parked Toyota Corolla, police said. The blade of the snowplow struck the Toyota, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Ford Vs Ford

At about 3:35 pm on January 21, motorist Taylor Daniels, 17, of 5 Indian Hill Lane was driving a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck westward on Church Hill Road, police said.

At that time, motorist Sazo Ajdinoski, 38, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2004 Ford F-350 truck pulled out of the driveway at 47 Church Hill Road and into the path of the Ford Ranger, resulting in a collision, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said that Ajdinoski failed to grant the right of way and had no automotive insurance.

Thrown Snowballs

About 6 pm on January 29, police responded to the intersection of Glen Road and Cherry Street after receiving a complaint that a person there was throwing snowballs at moving vehicles.

After an investigation, police charged a 15-year-old boy with throwing objects at moving motor vehicles and with illegal possession of tobacco by a minor.

Police released the boy into the custody of his parents for a February 7 appearance in Danbury Superior Court. Because the offender is under age 18, his identity is shielded from disclosure by state law.

Shoplifting

Police said that they went to Caraluzzi’s Market at 5 Queen Street after receiving a report that there was a theft in progress there about 4:30 pm January 26.

After investigating, police charged Edward House, 83, of 17 Taunton Lake Drive with sixth-degree larceny for allegedly shoplifting some merchandise.

Police released House on a written promise to appear in court on February 9.

School Bus

Elizabeth Koschel, 49, of 20 Evergreen Road was driving a school bus with passengers northward on Flat Swamp Road, near its intersection with Hunting Ridge Road, at about 8:45 am January 28, when she stopped to allow a southbound 2001 Ford F-350 truck driven by Alvin Rodriguez, 42, of Wolcott to pass by the bus, police said.

The roadway was narrower than usual due to snowbanks along its sides, police said.

As the Ford attempted to pass the bus, the Ford slid on snow and struck the bus, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Bus Accident

At about 9:30 am on January 25, motorist Suzanne Arnone, 52, of Taunton Lake Road was driving a 2008 Toyota RAV-4 SUV eastward on Borough Lane, as Ricardo Jarrin, 58, of Danbury was driving a 1999 International school bus westward there, police said. There were no passengers on the bus, police said.

As the two vehicles attempted to pass one another, they made contact, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Snowbank Crash

Motorist Joy Moutsis, 22, of Monroe was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima coupe on Mt Pleasant Road, near its eastern intersection with Blackman Road, at about 8:40 am on January 25, when the vehicle slid on the snowy road and struck a snowbank, police said.

Moutsis was not injured. Police verbally warned her for making a restricted turn.

Riverside Road

About 11:40 am on January 26, motorist Karla Priepke, 62, of 1 Timber Mill Road was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable station wagon westward on Riverside Road, as motorist Adam Pratt, 23, of New Milford, who was driving a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck, was backing out of a driveway at 56 Riverside Road, police said.

The two vehicles collided. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Pratt a written warning for unsafe backing.
