High School Space Needs Study Panel Sets Schedules

During its first meeting February 2, the High School Space Needs Study Committee moved to meet the first and third Monday of each month, with the exception of February and April, due to those monthsâ respective winter and spring vacations.
The next meeting is February 23 at 7:30 pm in the conference room of Newtown High Schoolâs principalâs office.
âWe thought it would be good for committee members to actually get a feel for the building,â said Superintendent of Schools Evan Pitkoff, who serves as ex-officio along with Assistant Superintendent of Schools Alice Jackson, Business Director Ron Bienkowski, and Maintenance Director Dom Posca.
The committee is comprised of school board member Tom Gissen, Board of Finance member Michael Portnoy, Legislative Council member Joe Borst, Public Building and Site Commissioner William Furrier, Newtown High School guidance counselor Elaine Schwartz, Newtown High School Principal William Manfredonia, Newtown High School Assistant Principal Lorrie Aresenian, parents Earl Gordon and Cheryl Barbour, and community members Judge William Lavery and Richard Sturdevant.
