Occupation: I am the owner/operator of Bus 17 for the Newtown Schools, and I’m a registrar of voters.

Family: My husband Richard and I have three children. Our son Richard is 29, Sara is 27, and William is 19.

Pets: We have Donald and Daisy, our cocker spaniels. We breed cocker spaniels and had a litter recently, and there is just one left. Donald and Daisy are 4½ years old. They were born just one week apart.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I have been here since 1968. I grew up here and remember attending Newtown Middle School when it was in double sessions. My husband and I met when we were at Newtown High School. I was a sophomore and he was a junior.

What do you like to do in your free time? There’s not a lot, but I like to read and I like to sew. I cook and I bake. I like to do all of those thing women used to be expected to do, but now we work and don’t have time.

Do you have a favorite author? Stuart Woods, Nora Roberts, and Jodi Picoult. I like Jodi Picoult’s books on vacation because I know I can’t put them down. I like a little mystery, a little romance. Catherine Coulter is a good author, too.

Do you have a favorite travel or vacation destination? We go to the Cape every summer and I like the vacations where we’re all together. But some of my favorite vacations are to the Caribbean. They have great beaches, and clear and warm water.

What is the biggest change you have seen in Newtown? There are fewer extended families able to stay here. It’s hard to get a beginner home in Newtown, there are very few. And it has become expensive for the elderly to stay here. I think we lose a lot of history and tradition when we lose the older people.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The best thing is that people still care and we still have a chance to remain a great community. A lot of towns don’t have that anymore.

If you could travel to the past or future, which would you choose? I’d go to the past — six years ago. I’d spend Thanksgiving Day with my grandma again. She passed away six years ago this Valentine’s Day. She lived in Stratford, and we would always pick her up the day before Thanksgiving. She’d sit a the table and do all of the vegetables for diner and we would have this wonderful visit. Then the day after, we would go shopping. Thanksgiving Day was special. I was very close to her.

Do you have a personal philosophy? If you treat people with respect you have a chance of getting it back. Also, I believe the saying that God never gives you more than you can handle.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Chocolate, especially dark chocolate with nuts, and the dark chocolate lace candy.
