Champs! Cheerleaders Shine, Win SWC Title

Newtown High School's cheerleading team put together and impressive routine loaded with dazzling choreography, tremendous athleticism, daring stunts, and sharp moves to earn the South-West Conference championship, on their home floor, February 7.

The Nighthawks scored 184.4; second-place Joel Barlow of Redding had 176.6. Brookfield was third with 160.

"I was so pleased. I thought they were amazing. They did everything we wanted them to do," Newtown Coach Susan Bridges said.

The routine included tumbles, tosses, pyramids, inverted stunts, and single base stunts.

Team members are Julia Pellicone, Emi Rosenthal, Caroline Tousignant, Gina Lewis, Allie Luby, Nicky Shairer, Emily Hammond, Tori Duarte, Danielle Vigneau, Angelina Visconto, Vicky Chop, Alexis Wasik, Katie Daoust, Abby McManus, Ally Pavilcek, and Lauren Milligan.
