Hearts of Hope (HOH) of Newtown will conduct a curbside event for its next Paint With A Purpose gathering.

All are invited to visit Newtown Community Center, 8 Simpson Street, between 6 and 7 pm Wednesday, February 17, when kits will be available for pickup. The event will be done with social distancing measures in place.

Kits can be ordered in advance, and include one, five, or ten palm-sized ceramic hearts ready to be painted with simple messages of hope and positivity. Paints and brushes are also available, as is the final glaze for each heart.

Hearts are $6 each, and reservations/advance purchase is encouraged.

For those who do not order online, extra hearts will be available Wednesday night.

While Paint With A Purpose events are usually held with a specific theme or group in mind, hearts are currently being painted for general needs. Painters are encouraged to create, and then share their completed hearts with someone who would benefit from one. Hearts can also be returned to the community center in March, when they will be held on to until there is an event where HOH needs to send a large amount to help comfort people during a time of need. Information will be available during the pick-up event.

The 2020 HOH commemorative heart is also available, for $15 each.
