To The Editor:

I’m a young, lifelong CT resident, and until recently, I had never been involved in Newtown politics.

That changed because of Brandon Moore.

Like a lot of young people, I used to think local government wasn’t really for people like me. It felt closed off and not relevant to my day-to-day life. Brandon completely flipped that for me by showing how much state and local decisions matter and how our town is better when more people are involved.

What really stood out to me is how Brandon interacts with people, especially young people. He doesn’t talk at you or pretend to have all the answers. He’s a normal guy who genuinely wants to hear what you think. He makes civic engagement feel welcoming instead of intimidating.

That matters. Our democracy is only as strong as the people who participate in it. Right now, too many young people feel disconnected from government, and that weakens all of us. Brandon understands that problem and actively works to fix it by bringing new voices into the process and making people feel like they belong.

I’m writing this letter because I truly believe in Brandon Moore. I believe in his commitment to democracy, his respect for our voices, and his determination to strengthen Newtown. We need leaders who don’t just talk about participation, but inspire it.

And I haven’t even mentioned all the incredible things he’s done. He was an attack helicopter pilot who earned a Bronze Star in Afghanistan. That alone is impressive, but what truly won me over is that he’s a kind, approachable guy with a real passion for service.

I’m proud to support Brandon for State Representative, and I hope you do as well.
