A Fairy Tale Morning
A Fairy Tale Morning
As part of its cultural program âFolktales, Myths & Legends,â Fraser-Woods students and their families recently enjoyed a performance of the Grimm brothersâ Rumpelstiltskin at the Downtown Cabaret Childrenâs Company in Bridgeport.
Rumpelstiltskin is the tale of a poor miller who falsely tells a king that his beautiful daughter has the ability to spin gold from straw. The famed spritelike title character helps her perform the task in exchange for her first-born child. Upon becoming queen for her âmiraculousâ ability, she becomes pregnant â and is grimly reminded of her promise to the sprite.
After the performance, students had the opportunity to meet and request autographs from the actors. Fraser-Woods classesâ travel to the Cabaret at least once a year; past productions attended include Jack and the Beanstalk and Beauty and the Beast.
Parent Association Vice President Polly DâAddario and Fraser-Woods parent, Cabaret employee Sandy Hartgens, coordinated the event. Nicholas and Nancy Benedetto donated paper goods. Devoreâs Bakery of Fairfield, Executive Chef Catering, and families from the Fraser-Woods School served a buffet-style breakfast.
