Correction

A story in last week’s edition of The Bee on the proposed budget of Superintendent of Schools Evan Pitkoff incorrectly reported the average class size at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as described by Sandy Hook Assistant Principal Cathy Mazzariello.

Average class size in grades one and two at Sandy Hook is 24 pupils per class. With the proposed addition of a second grade teacher, third grade teacher, and first grade educational assistant, combined with next year’s project enrollment of an additional 13 students, that class size average will be reduced to 21 or 22.
