Fire Truck Collision
Police said firefighter Thomas Cassin, 42, of 6 Taunton Lake Road was driving the town-owned Newtown Hook and Ladder aerial ladder fire truck to a house fire in the Shady Rest section about 5:35 pm February 6, when an accident occurred between the fire truck and an automobile.
 Police said that as Cassin was driving the 2001 Pierce fire truck northward on Shady Rest Boulevard, a northbound 2001 Plymouth Neon driven by Shannon Hicks, 34, of 18 Sugar Street pulled over to the right to allow the fire truck to pass by.
The Plymouth began to move before the fire truck completely passed by and the two vehicles collided, according to police. There were no injuries. Police said they issued Hicks a written warning concerning yielding to emergency vehicles.
DUI Charge
While on patrol about 1:45 am February 10, police said they spotted a 1997 Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle traveling on Glen Road toward Southbury with an expired vehicle registration.
Police said the stopped the vehicle and investigated. Police said they gave the driver, Julie France- Pierpaoli, 37, of Southbury sobriety tests, after which they charged her with driving under the influence and driving an unregistered vehicle.
After processing the arrest, police released France-Pierpaoli on a $50 bond for a February 20 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Paraphernalia
Police report that Newtown High School students Bradley Campbell, 16, of 4 Stonewall Ridge Road, and Christopher Socci, 17, of 18 Crossbrook Road were found to be returning to the high school midday on February 9, after having left the premises without permission.
Police said they charged both youths with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released from police custody on promises to appear February 24 in Danbury Superior Court.
Lexus Into Tree
Motorist Chandy Phothisarath, no age given, of Bridgeport was driving a Lexus LS-400 sedan westward on Mt Pleasant Road about 7:30 am February 4, when the vehicle spun out on the icy road and struck curbing and a tree along the eastbound road shoulder, police said. Phothisarath was not injured in the mishap, police said.
Rear-End Collision
Motorist Terry Welsh, 44, of Wolcott, who was driving a 1999 Subaru Legacy, stopped at a red traffic signal on Mile Hill Road at its intersection with South Main Street at about 7:15 am February 5, police said.
Welsh was attempting to turn right onto northbound South Main Street and rolled forward, but then stopped for approaching traffic, police said.
Motorist Megan Saul, 23, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1995 Toyota 4-Runner sport-utility vehicle, then drove into the rear end of the Subaru, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Saul a written warning for following too closely.
Glover/Queen
Police report a two-vehicle collision at the hazardous intersection of Queen Street and Glover Avenue about 4 pm February 9.
Police said motorist Henrietta Penrod, 69, of 3 St George Place, who was driving a 2002 Saturn VUE, was traveling eastward on Glover Avenue and then stopped at a stop sign at its intersection with Queen Street.
At that time, Lois Barber 48, of 33 Zoar Road was driving a 2001 Honda station wagon southward on Queen Street, police said.
The Saturn then turned left onto Queen Street and collided with the Honda, police said.
There were no injuries in the accident, police said. Police issued Penrod an infraction ticket on a stop sign violation.
