For The Love Of Reading Program
Begins On Valentineâs Day
Anyone with a school-age child knows there can be a shortage of books in the Booth Library, especially when a childâs entire class is researching the same topic.
To remedy this problem, Women Involved in Newtown (WIN), the library, and the Newtown school district are co-sponsoring âFor the Love of Reading,â and annual program that encourages residents to donate $25 to the library to purchase books that pertain to the school curriculum in grades one through 12.
This year the program begins on Valentineâs Day, February 14, and ends on April Foolâs Day, April 1.
Books can be dedicated in the name of a child, to commemorate a birth, birthday, or other special occasion, or in memory of a loved one. Community organizations, businesses, scout troops, and others are invited to purchase a book related to their special interest.
To participate, stop in or call the Booth Library at 426-4533. While at the library, choose a book or topic, inscribe a book plate to dedicate the book, send a card to the person whom the book is dedicated to, and fill out a free chance to win a heart-shaped piñata to be awarded April 1.
