'Go Red' RanInto Snow White
âGo Redâ Ran
Into Snow White
To the Editor:
Newtownâs Go Red For Womenâs Day on February 6 ran into Snow White and had to be canceled.
Newtown had some major events and an exciting campaign planned toward providing women with heart-health information and the importance of saving womenâs lives from heat disease and stroke. Many Newtowners were planning to paint Newtown Red to show their support for womenâs heart health and to encourage and help women to take action to improve their heart health. But alack and alas, snow white and sleet and icy rain was the color of the day.
Many, many thanks to the time, effort, and heart many people put into planning to paint Newtown Red â the Board of Selectmen and Jack Rosenthal for their Proclamation, the Visiting Nurses, the Business and Professional Women, the Newtown Womanâs Club, the Childrenâs Adventure Center, Sybil Blau and her heart-felt support and promotion, The Newtown Bee, the Newtown Savings Bank, Janet Woycik, Bob McCulloch, the Newtown Health District, Newtown Florist for the wreath hung at the Town Hall, Dr Thomas Draper in his red tie, Dr Robert Grossman as well as many others including Louise at My Place for her specially planned breakfast. But mostly thank you to all the wonderful people who wore red â in spite of the snow!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Heartily,
Mae S. Schmidle
