Homesteads At Newtown Named

Red Cross Champion

The Homesteads At Newtown, a senior living rental community, met the challenge of raising funds to benefit the lifesaving programs and services of the American Red Cross of Western Connecticut. “Champions for the Red Cross” is a program launched in December inviting individuals or businesses to raise $1,000 or more in support of the vital work of the Red Cross.

The Homesteads At Newtown met the challenge in December through its second annual “Festival of Trees,” a silent auction featuring 40 three-foot holiday trees decorated by local organizations and civic groups. Wine tasting, holiday performances, and an arts and crafts boutique were only a few highlights enjoyed by the guests that came out to support their local Red Cross.

Dana Paul, executive director of The Homesteads At Newtown, presented Red Cross Board Co-chairmen Ed Heere and Drew Morton with a check for $3,000 raised at the event. Homesteads owner Linda Silberstein accepted a “Champions for the Red Cross” Cup for the outstanding efforts in accepting the challenge to raise the $1,000 to be named “Champion.”
