Many Contributed To The Success
Of The Scholarship Ball
To the Editor:
The 66th Anniversary Newtown Scholarship Association Ball was held on Saturday, February 7, at the Candlewood Inn in Brookfield. This event, one of several major fundraisers for the NSA, was a tremendous success thanks to the generosity of more than 100 area businesses, 30 event patrons, and over 35 individuals who donated to our most successful silent auction to date.
It is impossible in this limited space to individually thank each of those who contributed to our success but there are a few people and organizations we must acknowledge here. To begin, the ball would not have been possible without the time and effort given by the eventâs committee members, Carol Garbarino, Stephanie Gaston, Terri-Ann Martocci, Mary Ann Murtha, Debbie Osborne, Barbara Borst, and Sherri Baggett.
We are grateful to Petal Pushers for the centerpieces; Chelsea Gardens for the party favors; Lexington Gardens, in particular Nancy Taylor, for the flowering bulbs; Dr Kevin Mitchell, Candlewood Center for Womenâs Health; and Image One of Monroe.
Thanks to the band sponsors Caldwell, Walsh Builders; Mark Fries and Nancy Taylor; Dr Jennifer Holloway; Dr Peter and Susan Licht; Jim and Marcia Morley; Jim Setz, Rock Ridge Builders; and Bob Tendler Real Estate, Inc.
Finally, thanks to everyone who attended the ball and to those of you who could not attend but sent contributions. Your support will make a significant difference in our ability to continue to provide financial aid for the higher education of promising students who reside in Newtown. We are proud to report that more than 60 scholarships totaling over $150,000 are awarded annually to high school graduates and as continuing aid to undergraduate students.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Clark
