PLAINVILLE – The Newtown Torpedoes continued to shine, boosting their winning streak to four with a victory over Plainville last Saturday.

It was the last meet of the regular season for the Torpedoes and it was packed full of personal best times, as well as some spectacular performances.

Anthony and Luke Fiore and AJ Kiss must have had some extra carbos for breakfast as all took chunks of time off their typical finishes (Luke broke 30 in the 50-yard freestyle … a dram target for swimmers in his age group).

Veteran swimmer Sarah Hemingway solidly performed in the 15 and over age bracket and was the only triple winner (a great way to finish a Torpedoes swim career spanning the entire 5 years of the team’s existence).

Double winners included Abby Fagerholm, Shannon Kiss, Leah Barrett, Jackie Isabella, Jax VanWaalwijk, Sarah Truckle, Eric Fiore, Ryan Tita, Chris Parker, Luke Fiore, and Anthony Fiore.

The next meet will be the Senior Trials on Saturday, February 21, at Watertown High School. The eight and under championships and 9/10 trials will be held on Sunday, February 22, also at Watertown High School.
