Valentines For Veterans
Valentines For Veterans
To the Editor:
The Newtown Womanâs Club, GFWC, Inc, would like to thank all who responded to our âValentines for Veteransâ project. The response was overwhelming. Almost 400 valentine cards â some containing chocolate candy kisses and lollipops â were sent to the two Veteransâ Hospitals in the state.
Most of the valentines were handmade and extremely creative and well done. Some of the groups contributing valentines were: Brownie and Daisy Scout Troops 166, 207, 236, 293, 295, 314, 371, and 749 in Newtown; Girl Scout Troop 4201 in Middlebury; YAB of Youth Services; Misty Morning Childrenâs Center; Sandy Hook School Kindergarteners both am and pm classes; Saturdayâs Childrenâs Art Workshop at the Booth Library; Stamford High School Fine Arts Department; members of The Newtown Womanâs Club; and many other caring people.
Iâm sure these cards are going to make Valentineâs Day a little brighter and cheerier for the men and women veterans who receive them.
