On Monday, February 2, Newtown Scholarship Association (NSA) launched its 89th annual scholarship season by opening the application portal for the 2026-2027 college academic year.

All high school seniors living in Newtown are eligible to apply for the association’s scholarships, all of which are intended to defray today’s high cost of college tuition. The association’s largest scholarship is in the name of The Hertberg Foundation and awards $10,000.

The general deadline for all applications is Friday, April 10, but returning recipients have an extended deadline of Wednesday, July 1. To be eligible for The Hertberg Family Foundation Scholarship, applications must be received by Friday, March 27.

The rising costs of college tuition make it increasingly difficult for Newtown families to afford higher education for deserving students. NSA welcomes any and all donations to help support its mission.

All information about NSA, its scholarships, application portal, and how to donate can be found at newtownscholarship.org.
