In other events, the âHawks got some other fine performances from Erin Kostecki (a season-best in the 1,000 meters), Cassie Shumaker (in the 500 meters), and Jamie Lindquist (4-6 in the high jump. The sprint medley team of Shumaker, Lindquist, Tracy and Kostecki also ran very well.
On the boysâ side, the 4-by-400 relay team of Tom Fullman, Andrew Beck, Dave Rod and Chris Carolan shattered the previous school record by four seconds â setting the new mark at 3:54.82 and finished ninth overall at the state meet.
Another school record fell in the sprint medley when Fullman, Tony Napoleone, Steve Ambrogio and Carolan shaved just 1/10th of a second off the old record and reset it at 4:03.2. Meanwhile, Rod had a personal best in the 800 meters (2:09).
The competition was stiff at the state meet and the âHawks performed well in spite of it.
