POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMS:
âWelcome To The Teen Zoneâ (geared for parents of middle and high schoolers) begins on Wednesday, February 23. The fee is $25 per person and $35 per couple. Also, if you would like to host a 5 week group at your home, a staff member would be happy to arrange this with you. This is a great way for neighbors to get to know one another. For further information please call the office.
FATHERSâ NIGHT â Next evening for Dads will be Monday, February 28 beginning at 7:30 pm.
Afterschool Programs For Middle School Students
Take your pick! Back by popular demand is âBike Club.â New entries are: âCreate A Memory With Me,â âPottery,â âHow Newtown Operatesâ (visits to Newtown Ambulance, Newtown Hook and Ladder, Edmund Town Hall and Newtown Police), âG.P. Cheffields,â and âRicciâs Academy.â
These programs tend to fill very quickly. Space is limited. Please call the NYS office for further information or to register.
Job Bank
Looking for a part-time job or need some extra cash? The NYS Job Bank may be able to help. Students 13 to 17 are welcome to fill out an application form. Please call Jessica Clark, Job Bank Coordinator, at 270-4335 for further information.
Community Events
Mark your calendars!!! Saturday, April 15 is the date!!! Newtown Youth Services will sponsor a dance/auction at the Fireside Inn on Saturday, April 15.
Youth Group Meetings:
The High School Youth Advisory Board (HS YAB) will meet on Monday, February 28, at 6:30 pm.
NYCAAP will meet on Tuesday, February 22, at 5:30 pm.
The Middle School Youth advisory Board (MS YAB) will next meet on Wednesday, February 23 in the MS Teachersâ Lunch Room. The meeting will run from 3:45 to 4:45.
New meeting schedule for MS YAB: In an effort to allow more students to attend YAB we will vary our meeting days and times. Every third meeting will be a âBreakfast Meetingâ at 8 AM and others will meet on Tuesday or Wednesday at 3:45. Please check this column or the YAB bulletin board for all information.
