David Lussier Will Lead SCAN Demo
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have an oil painting demonstration by David Lussier on Wednesday, February 28, at 1:30 pm. His subject will be a landscape.
The program is open to the public and will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). There is no admission charge.
David Lussier is a resident of Woodstock. His landscapes reflect an interest in strong impressionistic brushwork and the value relationships of color, as influenced by Robert Henri and Emile Gruppe. The rhythm established in Mr Lussierâs paintings by his bold thick strokes of paint brings the surface to life.
Trained as a commercial illustrator, he realized early in his career that his real passion was found in painting the rural New England landscape found outside his front door. Mr Lussier is an artist almost entirely devoted to outdoor painting.
Mr Lussierâs professional affiliations include Rockport Art Association, Northshore Art Association, and Hudson Valley Art Association.
His paintings and workshops have been featured in numerous publications including A Conversation with David Lussier by Charles Movalli in the December 1995 issue of American Artist magazine and more recently, a feature article about his Monhegan Island workshop in the 2005 winter issue of American Artist Workshop magazine.
