Audi Off Road

About 7:19 pm February 10, motorist Quentin Smelzner, 50, of Monroe, who was driving a 2006 Audi sedan southward near 54 South Main Street, veered to the right, went off the road and then struck an embankment, police said. Neither Smelzner nor a passenger were injured, police said.

Police issued Smelzner an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Honda Vs Ford

Police report that motorist Michael Stirk, 50, of 14 Ox Hill Road, who was driving a 2000 Ford Taurus, stopped at a red traffic signal on eastbound Sugar Street, near Elm Drive, about 4 pm February 8, after which Stirk moved forward when the signal turned green.

The Ford then stopped due to traffic conditions, police said.

Eastbound motorist Becky Cavanagh, 42, of Southbury, who was driving a 2006 Honda Pilot, then struck the Ford from behind, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Cavanagh a written warning for following too closely.

Volkswagen Accident

About 7:24 pm February 2, motorist Christopher Emmerson-Pace, 37, of Monroe was driving a 2003 Volkswagen GTI eastward on Mt Pleasant Road, when while negotiating a curve to the left, the Volkswagen slid on the snowy road and went out of control, police said.

The vehicle hit a curb, went airborne, and then landed on a grass road divider near Johnnie Cake Lane. It came to rest alongside Johnnie Cake Lane, police said. Emmerson-Pace was not injured. He received a infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.

 

Larceny

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Jennifer Van Epps, 24, of 52 Charter Ridge Road turned herself over to police on February 12 and was charged with third-degree larceny. The charge, which is a felony, involves the theft of items worth between $1,000 and $5,000.

Police said the arrest stems from an incident that occurred last November 27, in which Van Epps allegedly stole unspecified merchandise from a former employer. After processing, Van Epps was released on a written promise to appear in court on February 26, police said.
