To The Editor:

From the moment you meet Brandon Moore, you notice his sincerity. There is a steadiness in the way he listens and a genuine kindness in how he engages with others. As a graduate of West Point and Harvard and a veteran of military service, Brandon brings disciplined judgment, strong ethical grounding, and a forward‑looking approach to every responsibility he takes on.

I first saw these qualities up close when Brandon worked alongside my husband, Bruce Walczak, during his campaign for First Selectman. Bruce offered deep local knowledge; Brandon contributed a fresh, energetic perspective shaped by national service and state‑level experience. Together, they showed how thoughtful, balanced leadership can strengthen a community.

What has always stood out to me — especially as a woman who values collaboration and empathy — is the way Brandon leads with genuine care. He listens fully, brings people together, and ensures that every voice is heard. At a time when public life can feel rigid or overly institutional, Brandon’s openness and optimism feel both refreshing and deeply needed.

Brandon and his husband, Mike, are excited to raise their family in Newtown, and their enthusiasm reflects the best of who we are as a town. Their rescue dogs, Hitch and Penny, offer a small but telling glimpse into Brandon’s instinct to invest in others and to recognize potential where it matters most.

Brandon is principled, service‑minded, and forward‑looking — a steady presence whose character enriches the community he calls home.
