Thanks Newtown Firefighters
To The Editor:
We are writing this letter as a thank you to the Newtown Fire Department volunteers.
On a freezing cold five degree Superbowl Sunday on February 8, my wife and I came home from an errand to find smoke billowing from a second floor broken bedroom window. My wife grabbed the dogs, left the house, and called 911.
Within 60 seconds, our neighbor Sean Kearns raced up to our home and took over the scene. He ran in and saved our cat, Steve, who had ran from us and brought him to safety.
Newtown Hook & Ladder and the fire marshal were there minutes later. The fire had started in a bedroom and was confined and extinguished within that one room. If not for the quick response and action of our Newtown Volunteers, we would have lost our entire home instead of only one room.
The Carnes family will be forever grateful to these brave heroic folks.
