Borst To Attend Leadership Conference
Wendy Borst of Sandy Hook was recently selected to participate in the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC), a leadership development program for academically outstanding students.
While attending the conference, Wendy will have the opportunity to study, experience and develop skills and traits that define and identify a leader.
She will be among this yearâs approximately 8,000 high school students across the United States and 45 countries worldwide participating in the program.
Guest speakers (that in the past have included US Surgeon General Richard H. Carmona, US Secretary of Education Rod Paige, former US Secretary of State Madeline Albright, former Attorney General Janet Reno and Supreme Court Justices Anthony Kennedy, Sandra Day OâConnor and David Souter) bring current national and international issues to life.
âStudents develop a sense of independence and responsibility,â noted Dr Paul M. Lisnek, the NSLC Director of Academics and former Assistant Dean of Loyola University Chicago School of Law. âThey leave with a true feeling of accomplishment and confidence in their ability to handle the challenges that lie ahead.â
NSLC conferences include Mastering Leadership, Law & Advocacy, Medicine & Health Care, Entrepreneurship and Business, International Diplomacy, U.S. Policy and Politics, Intelligence and National Security and Inside the Arts.
Wendy will be attending Inside the Arts from July 24 through July 29 in Chicago, Illinois. She will have the chance to experience a wide range of career options within the field, from music and painting to theater and architecture.
