The public is invited to join members of The Garden Club of Newtown at C.H. Booth Library on Tuesday, February 24, at 1 pm, for a program about invasive plants. There is no admission fee.
The speaker will be Chris Mattrick, the senior conservation programs manager for New England Wild Flower Society in Framingham, Massachusetts.
The program will be âInvasive Plants: Identification and Control for the Home Gardener.â
Mr Mattrick has a bachelorâs degree in natural resource management from the University of Vermont and a masterâs in environmental studies from Antioch New England Graduate School.
He directs the activities of the New England Wild Flower Societyâs Plant Conservation Volunteer Corps, is a member of New England Plant Conservation Program, and is involved in the monitoring and management of endangered and invasive plant species throughout the region.
