Hospital Implements Stentor System
Hospital Implements Stentor System
DANBURY â The Danbury Hospital Department of Radiology, together with its Information Technology Group, announces the implementation of Stentor, a new computer application that provides easy-to-use, high-quality access to radiologic images for physicians â whether they are working at the hospital, in a practice location, or even in their homes.
Following a fall pilot program by radiologists and several physician practices, members of the Danbury Hospital can now gain access to the system for better convenience and greater efficiencies in delivering patient care.
âStentor revolutionizes image quality and brings the full range of imaging from Danbury Hospital to community physicians. We are pleased to offer this tool to enhance efficiency and support overall improvements in patient care,â said Thorsten Krebs, MD, chairman of the Department of Radiology.
In addition to Dr Krebs and Bob Grosof, PACS administrator, the Stentor project team includes ITGâs Rose Hernandez, Tim George, Dave Doyle, Nestor Ferrer, and Wendy Shames. These and other information technology initiatives for physicians also are supported by the DHS Community Physician Advisory Committee, chaired by David Elfenbein, MD, orthopedics, and the Physician Advisory Group, chaired by Eric Jimenez, MD, pulmonary medicine.
Following his committeeâs review and testing of Stentor, Dr Elfenbein was the first physician to implement the technology in his practice at Connecticut Family Orthopedics. âStentor is working well, and I am able to look at images taken in the emergency room from home or my office to offer more timely care for my patients. Training on the system was simple. It is a huge timesaver that provides higher quality images than offered by previous systems,â Dr Elfenbein said.
The Stentor system complements a growing body of technological resources to offer physicians more direct, secure access to clinical and other information vital to delivering high-quality and timely medical care.
