Intersection Stop

Police report that they stopped motorist Maryann Cook, 50, of Trumbull at the intersection of South Main and Sugar streets on the night of February 13 after noticing the vehicle that she was driving carried outdated marker plates.

On investigating, police charged Cook with failure to display reflectivized marker plates and with driving while under suspension. After processing the case, police released Cook on a promise to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 4.

Hawleyville Collision

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Mt Pleasant Road in front of Hilario’s Service Center midday on February 14, according to police.

Westbound motorist Michael Dacosta, 17, of New City, N.Y., who was driving a 1996 Nissan sedan, was making a left turn into the gas station parking lot, when he collided with eastbound motorist Jone Sigovich, 57, of 3 White Oak Farm Road, who was driving a 2002 Acura, according to police. Sigovich reported overall weakness following the collision, police said. Dacosta received an infraction ticket on a charge of failure to grant the right of way.

Whippoorwill Hill

A Chrysler and Chevrolet collided on Whippoorwill Hill Road, off Mt Pleasant Road, about 10:30 am February 12.

Police report that a 2000 Chrysler 300-M driven by John Paulin, 65, of 6 Whippoorwill Hill Road was pulling out of the driveway at that address when it collided with a northbound 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Frank Davis, 69, of 10 Whippoorwill Hill Road.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Paulin for failure to grant the right of way.

 

Chrysler Vs Mazda

Midday on February 11, an accident involving a 1997 Chrysler Sebring and a 1995 Mazda Protégé occurred at the intersection of Country Club Road and South Main Street, police report.

The accident occurred after the Chrysler, which was driven by Judith Thompson, 40, of Derby, exited eastbound Country Club Road and collided with the Mazda, which Adenir Santos, 33, of Brewster, N.Y., was driving southward on South Main Street, police said.

 There were no injuries. Police issued Thompson a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Main/Glover Accident

Police report that motorist Andrew Lambo, 17, of 8 Country Squire Road, who was driving a 1993 Ford Escort, which was carrying three passengers southward on Main Street, attempted to make a left turn onto Glover Avenue at about 8:20 pm February 13. In making the maneuver, the Ford collided with a northbound 1993 Chevrolet Geo driven by Alvaro Ramirez, 36, of Millbrook, N.Y., police said.

Ramirez said he experienced neck pain in the crash but refused an ambulance, police said. Police issued Lambo a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Corolla Vs Corvette

At about 1:30 pm February 12, motorist Diane Shumway, 68, of Provincetown, Mass, who was driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla, was heading westward on Mt Pleasant Road and then started making a left turn into Hilario’s Service Center, when the Toyota collided with an eastbound 1993 Chevrolet Corvette coupe driven by motorist Kenneth Solimando, 40, of Pleasantville, N.Y., police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Shumway an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Moving Violations

Police said that a vehicle driven by Walter Alberts, 59, of Danbury displayed an expired registration sticker while traveling on Mile Hill Road on the morning of February 14.

Police said they stopped Alberts to investigate and charged him with driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, and driving without automotive insurance.

After posting a $100 bond, police released Alberts for a February 26 court appearance.

Warrant

Police said they executed an arrest warrant against Richard Weldon, 46, of Wolcott on February 16, charging him with driving without a license and with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana.

Police said the charges stem from Weldon’s involvement in a January 6 motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Church Hill Road and The Boulevard. After processing the arrest, police released Weldon on $200 bail for a February 27 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Narragansett Trail

Sometime between 6 pm February 13 and 8 am February 14, someone broke the rear window of a vehicle which was parked on the street near the intersection of Naragansett Trail and Far View Drive, according to police. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 270-8888.

Sandy Hook Crash

Police report a two-car accident at the intersection of Route 34 and High Rock Road in which four teenagers were injured about 9:12 pm February 15.

Motorist Lauren Grimaldi, 16, of 26 Paugussett Road, who was driving a 2000 Saturn sedan, was traveling on High Rock Road and then failed to grant the right of way at a stop sign at the intersection of High Rock Road and Route 34, police said.

The Saturn collided with a 1999 Mazda Protégé being driven on Route 34 by James Terhaar, 18, of 3 Butternut Ridge, police said. The impact pushed both vehicles into a rock ledge outcropping near the intersection.

Injured in the crash were Grimaldi and Saturn passengers Jessica Shepard, 14, of Bankside Trail, Kaitlin Durkin, 16, of Winesap Road, and Brian Metzler, 17, of Deer Trail, police said.

 Sandy Hook firefighters and the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps went to the accident, police report. Police issued Grimaldi an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way at a stop sign.
