Nutmeg Celiac Group To Meet Feb. 27

DANBURY — A meeting of the Nutmeg Celiac Support Group will be held on February 27 at the Community Center for Behavioral and Mental Health on Lake Avenue at 7:30 pm.

Natural products and gluten-free foods will be discussed at the annual winter meeting.

People with a gluten sensitivity, diagnosed and called Celiac Disease, will have the chance to hear Karen Nell, owner of Body and Soul health food store, talk about the many products available now for those who are on a gluten-free diet for life. Celiac Disease is a common disease, often undiagnosed, that affects one person of every 133 in the United States. It is a genetically based disease, one of a number of autoimmune disorders.

The support group has held regular programs for people with Celiac Disease for 14 years and welcomes those who are interested in learning about the disease, or in talking with others who have found ways of managing food choices, and those who have suggestions about restaurants, shopping, and cooking with ingredients that do not contain gluten. Questions may be made to 203-438-6108.
