YMCA Open Mic Night

DANBURY — The Writer’s Voice program of the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut’s ESCAPE to the Arts will host this month’s free open mic night on Thursday, February 26. Sign up for the open mic is at 7 pm and readings will begin at 7:15.

Attendees should bring their poetry and prose to share at the open mic. Free admission includes coffee and tea.

The featured reader for February’s Open Mic Night is Kevin Gianni. Mr Gianni says he is a “simple” poet, who makes his art accessible to the everyday reader, the guy who doesn’t have time for a novel or a gal who’d rather watch Reality TV, by using simple language carefully crafted. Many of his poems do not require the use of a dictionary.

He has self-published two scrapbooks and some of his work has been published in the Hat City Free Press, Conatus (Western Connecticut State University’s literary magazine), and The Echo (WSCU’s student run newspaper).

Mr Granni is currently the literary editor of The Echo, and the Sunday manager of a mom-and-pop hardware store.

ESCAPE to the Arts. The Center for Arts and Humanities is at 293 Main Street in Danbury. Call 794-1413 for information.
