ak/gs set 2-21 #689388

FREEPORT, N.Y. — Paper Plus debuts on Sunday, March 4, 10 am to 4 pm, at the Freeport Recreational Center. “We knew Long Island would be ready for this show,” said Sheila Pekale, Elias Pekale show promoter. “And the combinations were a perfect fit. Books, toys, military and anything ephemera is fascinating, and its fun!”

The 50 exhibitors include offerings by Harvey Stanson, Hempstead, N.Y., with rare and scholarly books; Harry Brewster, New Windsor, N.Y., brings an eclectic display of unusual ephemera; Joyce Ackerman will bring books from West Hempstead, N.Y.; The Huttunen’s are bringing vintage postcards and maps, many referencing Long Island locales; and Reider Antiques features a collection of children’s books.

Military memorabilia will be represented, as well as fire and police material. Sheet music, movie lobby cards, photography, posters, comics and trade cards, Playbills, magazines, advertising and much more will be found among the ephemera exhibitors.

Many dealers from Long Island will be at the show. Oohs and Aahs, Farmingdale, has an array of vintage and collectible toys; K&H, Island Park, also contributes to the search for that remembered toy; From Oakdale, Baker Antiques shows still banks; for 50s memories, Hank Cohen of Huntington and The Doctor aka Richard Montag will be showing their best.

Freeport Recreational Center is at 130 East Merrick Road. Take the Meadowbrook Parkway Exit M9 Merrick Road West for a half mile to Recreation Center. For more information, 516-868-2751 or www.pekaleshows@aol.com.
