Struck A Deer

Newtown Police report Denise Bridge, 55, of Waterbury, operating a 2019 Kia Forte FE, was traveling westbound on Wasserman Way at 6:03 am, February 2, when her vehicle struck a deer.

The deer crossed the eastbound lane into the westbound lane and struck the front of Bridge’s vehicle

Bridge’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

Went Too Soon

Newtown Police report Mark Lutz, 55, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2018 Jeep WRG, was traveling westbound on Church Hill Road in the right hand turn lane for Edmond Road at 7:16 am, February 3. Lutz was traveling behind a 2014 Subaru Outback operated by Penny Meador, 67, of Sandy Hook.

Meador was waiting at a red light. When the light turned green Lutz began moving forward and his vehicle struck Meador’s vehicle from behind.

There were no injuries.

Hit Car Waiting To Turn

Newtown Police report Jaydeep Soni, 28, of Littleton, Mass., operating a 2019 Nissan Altima, was traveling on Wasserman Way at 9:08 am Saturday, February 5. Eric Lamoree, 53, of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., operating a 2017 Nissan RGE, was stopped for a red traffic light at the intersection of Wasserman Way and Berkshire Road waiting to make a right turn onto Berkshire Road.

Soni’s vehicle struck Lamoree’s vehicle from behind.

No injuries were reported.

Soni was given a verbal warning for following too close.

Drug Possession Arrest

Newtown Police report that at 9:58 pm, February 8, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the Interstate 84 off-ramp on Hawleyville Road. The officer performed a traffic stop. Upon further investigation, the officer determined that the operator of the vehicle, Keith Arnold, 35, of Brookfield, was in possession of narcotics in the vehicle as well as other drug paraphernalia.

Arnold was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear in Danbury Court on February 23.

Slid On Icy Road

Newtown Police report Leszek Jablonski, 60, of Berlin, operating a 2007 International 4400 box truck, was traveling eastbound on a downhill curve on Wasserman Way at 12:08 pm Wednesday, February 9.

Jablonski’s vehicle slid on the icy road, causing Jablonski to lose control and travel into the westbound travel lane. The front left corner of his vehicle struck the guardrail off the road and shoulder westbound and slid along the guardrail. The rear of the vehicle turned south off of the road.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

No enforcement action was taken.

Failure To Grant Right Of Way

Newtown Police report Barzallo Delgado, 26, of Danbury, operating a 2017 Hino 268, was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 at 5:29 pm Wednesday, February 9. Joy Davis, 42, of Bethel, operating a 2010 Lexus GS 350 AWD, was traveling northbound on Hawleyville Road and going straight.

Delgado attempted to turn left from the Exit 9 off ramp stop sign onto Hawleyville Road, where the front of Davis’s vehicle struck the driver’s side front of his vehicle.

No injuries were reported on scene. Davis’s vehicle was towed from the scene.

Delgado was issued a verbal warning for failure to grant right of way from a stop sign.

Snow Caused Slide Into Tree

Newtown Police report Christina Cardona, 31, of Ansonia, operating a 2014 Nissan Rogue, was traveling southbound on Cemetery Road at 7:46 am Sunday, February 13. Cardona’s vehicle slid in the snow, crossed the dividing line and the northbound travel lane and struck a tree.

Cardona and a passenger were both transported to a hospital for evaluation. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

No enforcement action is mentioned in the report.

Criminal Trespass

Newtown Police report Allen Isabelle, 61, of Brookfield, was arrested at 11:45 am for first-degree criminal trespass. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of February 24 in Danbury Court.

Assault With A Motor Vehicle

Newtown Police report Vanessa Silva, 36, of Bethel, was arrested at 9:08 pm, February 14, on the charges of evading responsibility for serious physical injury, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, illegal operation of a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, failure to keep right on a curve, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and second-degree assault with a motor vehicle.

She was held with a court date of February 15 in Danbury Court.
